The University of Washington Children's Center
at Portage Bay
The new two-story facility will be located at 3745 15th Ave NE in South Campus. Our new space is expected to serve approximately 138 children with two infant rooms, three toddler rooms, four preschool rooms and plenty of outdoor space.
The Infant program at UWCCPB is based on the teachings of Magda Gerber and the RIE (Resources for Infant Educators) philosophy. This approach of being with infants is based on respectful and responsive caregiving in the least restrictive environment that is as safe as possible. The Toddler and Preschool age classrooms are organized around Montessori philosophy. The Montessori classroom is a prepared environment which offers your child the freedom to make their own choices, learn at their own pace and fully experience the joy of learning. The onsite program Director is Andrea Mosko.
