This Center serves the families of University of Washington staff and faculty
Under the sponsorship of the University of Washington, the University of Washington Children's Center (UWCC) at West Campus was built in 1996 to serve the children of University of Washington staff and faculty. The center includes an infant room, toddler class and two preschool classes.
West Campus is a Montessori-based early childhood program and is licensed for 54 children. The on-site Program Director is Jack Harrington.
Location
The UWCC West Campus is located at 3904 Cowlitz Road, conveniently situated in the heart of the UW South Campus. For more information, contact the Center Director, Jack Harrington at (206) 548-9850.
Program
Our Preschool and Toddler programs are based on the Montessori Method, with credentialed Montessori Lead Teachers in each of our classrooms. Our Infant program is based on the RIE philosophy. We strive to maintain a 3:1 staff to child ratio with Infants, 5:1 with Toddlers, and 10:1 with Preschoolers.
Our operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 6:00pm.
Enrollment
We care for children from 3 months - 5 years of age. UWCC West Campus is a part of the UW Childcare system, which gives priority to those families affiliated with the University. Enrollment is done throughout the year, as space becomes available. See below for additional information on enrollment priority.

West Campus Enrollment Priority
West Campus is a part of the Haggard Childcare Resources (HCR) University of Washington Childcare system and gives priority to those families affiliated with the University. Enrollment in West Campus is determined according to the following priorities:
Permanent U.W. staff and faculty at 50% FTE or greater
All other U.W. employees (Hourly, instructors, affiliates)
U.W. students
State employees of other agencies
*Siblings of enrolled students have enrollment priority
Annual Calendar
UWCC West Campus offers is a year-round program with the exception of federal holidays, three in-service days and two one-week closures at the end of August and December. Click here to view the 2023-2024 calendar.
Nutrition
Two healthy snacks and afternoon tea are provided each day to Toddlers and Preschoolers. Parents provide lunches, infant food and formula, and special dietary needs. Hot lunch is available for a fee, year-round through the Green Sprouts.
Tuition
Tuition is based on full-time enrollment. Tuition may be paid quarterly or in twelve equal payments due at the beginning of each month. The first month's tuition is due when an enrollment contract is submitted.
