This Center serves the families of University of Washington staff, faculty, and students

The University of Washington Children's Center at Laurel Village was originally founded as a parent co-op in 1976 and since 1992, has been a Haggard Childcare Resources' (HCR) school. The program offers an innovative early care and education program based on the Montessori and RIE pedagogies.

Laurel Village has one infant room, one toddler room and two preschool classrooms. The center is located in Laurel Village UW Family Housing  area and is licensed for 62 children. The Program Director is Rosalind Manzano.

Location
Laurel Village is located along Mary Gates Memorial Drive, directly across from the UW driving range entrance at 4200 Mary Gates Memorial Drive NE.   For more information, please contact the Program Director, Rosalind Manzano at (206) 525-5122.


Program
Our Preschool and Toddler programs are based on the Montessori curriculum.  Our Infant program uses the RIE philosophy.  We strive to maintain a 3:1 staff to child ratio with Infants, 5:1 with Toddlers, and 10:1 with Preschoolers.

Our operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 6:00pm.

Enrollment
We care for children from 3 months - 5 years of age.
Laurel Village is a part of the UW Childcare system, which gives priority to those families affiliated with the University.  Further information about the priority system is below.

UW Childcare Priority System
Laurel Village is a part of the Haggard Childcare Resources (HCR) University of Washington Childcare System, which enrolls families affiliated with the UW. Enrollment in Laurel Village is determined according to the following priorities:

  1. University of Washington students living in family housing

  2. University of Washington full-time students

  3. University of Washington faculty and staff

*Siblings of enrolled students have enrollment priority

Annual Calendar
A year-round program with the exception of holidays, three in-service days and two one-week closures at the end of August and December. Click here to view the current calendar.


Nutrition
A morning and afternoon snack, as well as a nutritious hot lunch  served daily for Preschoolers, Toddlers, and Infants on table food. 


Tuition
Tuition is based on full-time (5-day, all-day) enrollment and tiered by priority level, as outlined above.  Tuition may be paid quarterly or in twelve equal payments due at the beginning of each month. The first month's tuition is due when an enrollment contract is submitted.
